About The Grassroots Blues Festival
“The Grassroots
Blues Festival is A Family Affair"
One of
ACER's areas of work is Project CAM. Project CAM (cultural arts
and multi-media) is an intergenerational, technology, communication and
education program. The Grassroots Blues Festival is a project of Project
CAM that began in 2001 in an effort to help support its operation to
implement its program of work in the community and at the same time to
provide a platform for traditional blues artists, and obscure blues
artists, to cultivate and celebrate a musical art form that is unique to
our Mississippi Heritage. The Grassroots Blues Festival is a celebration
of our rich cultural heritage of blues music, and the artists who
demonstrated mastery of their artistic discipline and quality of
work. The Grassroots Blues Festival is an annual event that takes place
on the 2nd Saturday of July.

The
Grassroots Blues Festival features local and regional artists such

“The Grassroots Blues Festival in tiny Duck
Hill has gained a reputation for quality traditional blues”
–Scott Barretta – Guest Columnist for Clairon-Ledger and a veteran
of the blues world and former editor of two influential blues
publications, Living Blues and Jefferson.
The Grassroots Blues Festival can take some
small credit in helping to boost the exposure of the now famous
Homemade Jamz Blues Band of Tupelo, MS according to Renaud Perry,
father and manager.-5th Annual Blues Festival Guide 2007
Magazine. They performed at the 4th and 5th
Annual Grassroots Blues Festival where they met an individual that
encouraged them to enter several competitions.
